‘Hemp’ Heats Up the Nike Air Max BW

The 30th anniversary in 2021 is picking up steam with a slew of new colourways arriving after OG editions like the and . Next on the BW colour wheel is this tonal ‘Hemp’ mix, which largely follows the colour-blocking conventions of its 1991 predecessors.
Nike have remastered the BW silhouette this year. This means features like sharper toe rakes, microfibre and mesh materials per 1991 specifications and, most importantly, a considerably larger Air unit in the heel. And because the ‘Persian’ retro also brought back the OG narrow box, it’s likely this ‘Hemp’ version will also reprise that packaging.
On the colourway front, the ‘Hemp’ shade of tan highlights a majority of this BW’s upper for a largely tonal finish, which is met by some contrast via a darker shaded Swoosh, tongue and ankle collar, plus crisp white midsoles and heel counters.
Here’s a free idea for Nike: actually make a BW with . The Swoosh has successfully remade this model in other materials like Hyperfuse and denim before, so a natural textile like hemp isn’t entirely out of the question.
