Red and Grey Land on the Nike Air Max Flyknit Racer
are going full steam ahead with the upcoming racer, a hybrid of 2012’s and the retro-contemporary Air Max Pre Day. As its straightforward model name explains, its major two features are Air Max cushioning and Flyknit woven uppers. For those who have been in the sneaker game for a while, the top half of the shoes will likely evoke some nostalgia, while the soles offer something new to check out.
The concept of a Flyknit Racer atop an Air Max sole is not new; customisers have been making them for years, but this is the first time Nike have officially offered it. Unlike the unauthorised method of gluing parts of separate shoes together, the Swoosh have tweaked the pattern of their source material and updated it to something more befitting of 2022. This sees a new leather overlay on the eyestays and an external heel counter for extra support. The sharp silhouette remains and pairs well with the Pre Day midsoles. On the colourway front, the unlimited combinations offered by knitted uppers sees complementary shades of red and grey meshed together.
Expect to see this colourway of the Air Max Flyknit Racer arrive at Nike retailers in coming months.
