First In-Hand Look at the Nike Air Max Motif Model

Update March 11, 2022: Sample collector @woganwodeyang​ has shared our first-ever IRL look at the upcoming new Nike model dubbed the Air Max Motif. It's set to drop for Air Max Day so keep it locked to SF for updates.

March 26 is Air Max Day and almost every year leading up to our favourite hol- Air-day Nike will reveal a brand new model that infused new technology or pays homage to the technology’s storied past. Last year, the Pre-Day was the highlight which was a modern take on the joggers that released around 1979-81. Past highlights include the VaporMax from 2017 and bulbous 2019's Air Max 720. For 2022, they’ve decided to look back to the legendary Tinker Hatfield-designed Air Max 1 and through a modern lens, refine its features. The result is jarring, with sleeker lines and fresh material upgrades.

When comparing the Air Max 1 to the new Air Max Motif we can see a clear resemblance via its shape and basic tooling as each panel is in a similar position. The major difference comes through on the icy outsole which has been enlarged, adding a couple of centimetres of height plus, the Air window has grown to epic proportions! Up top, all the materials have been made with recycled fabrics utilising mesh, suede and canvas.

The Nike Air Max Motif could potentially debut on Air Max Day 2022 in ‘Sport Blue’ and ‘Photon Dust’.
