Go For Gold in the Nike Air Max Plus
fans are undoubtedly drawn to the model because of its ready acceptance of just about any colour and material combination. This new version eschews some of the elements that made the original TN unique, but its strong gold colourway presents the model in its best light and finishes strong.
Instead of the gradient uppers and translucent TPU support ribs of the 1998 OG, this edition uses gauze-like mesh and tonal overlays in tasteful tan and gold tones. The textural switch continues on the leather heel counter that runs into the mudguard, which then meets the TPU toe bumper. Breaking things up a little is the black mesh lining and dabs of reflective on the toe box.
It’s also plenty interesting underfoot. All-black midsoles are tough AF – as it should be on the Air Max Plus – and the gum rubber outsole is a feature that needs to be used more regularly on the model. Since it’s an uncommon appearance at the moment, it makes this pair kinda special. The Air unit innards are black except for the medial heel, which is shaded gold to highlight the namesake Tuned Air technology.
Keep an eye out for this Air Max Plus at Nike retailers in coming months.
