Nike Air Max Plus Celebrates the ‘Longtaitou Festival’
The Longtaitou Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday that arrives on the second day of the second month of the Chinese lunar calendar. Marking the period of the calendar when winter turns to spring, the Longtaitou Festival celebrates the ‘dragon raising its head’ as people make offerings to the Dragon God for a fortuitous farming season ahead.
To mark the occasion, are releasing a special edition with an extra set of laces. Looping through the collar holes and wrapping around the Air Max Plus’ classic midfoot shanks (lovingly referred to as the ‘Whale Tail’), the TN adopts brown leather mudguards and French terry heels and collars.
On the insoles, graphics inspired by traditional Chinese barbershops again reinforce the central motif (many people will get their hair cut for the festival), while the laces can be cut and customised with a personalised tip.
Already available in China at Nike and select retailers, make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for potential stateside release dates.
