Many of us still look back at the 1990s as the golden age for hoops sneakers. Loading the hardwood with Air Jordan classics, Charles Barkley signature silhouettes and cult favourites like the Air Foamposite, it’s no surprise sneakerheads are desperate to get their hands on classic products again in 2024. With All-Star Weekend once again coming up, those travelling to Utah will be on the lookout for some fresh swag to pair with their ‘fits, and the Air More Uptempo is always a fool-proof option.

Entering the league in the mid-90s, Scottie Pippen’s unofficial silhouette yanked necks when it first hit the hardwood, with the larger-than-life detailing and huge proportions sitting masterfully within the vernacular of hip hop, graffiti and bold logos.

The latest colourway to arrive is one we can all get behind. The ‘Dark Smoke Grey’ iteration is reminiscent of the toned-down colourways Pippen laced during the Bulls postseason campaigns.

Manufactured in a classic nubuck build, the titular hue makes its way across the majority of the model’s uppers. Jewel rear Swooshes bring some glow to the colourway, while green medial lace loops add depth to the design. Of course, all of the hallmarks of the Air More Uptempo remain in place, including the indomitable AIR lettering and vibrant cushioning system.

At the time of writing, no official release details have been announced, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.

In the meantime, make sure to check out the brief history of the game-breaking silhouette.
