Official Images: Nike Air Trainer 1 Utility ‘Dark Smoke Grey’
The first ever cross-trainer to hit the market, the Air Trainer 1 originally released in 1987. Another home run, the model was affectionately adopted by big-name athletes like Bo Jackson and John McEnroe.
While hype for a comeback was initially generated by collaboration, it now looks like Nike have pivoted to mainline models for now, as the Houston rapper’s partnership has been put on hiatus after the ASTROWORLD tragedy.
The first batch of designs to arrive is the Air Trainer 1 Utility ‘Dark Smoke Grey’, a reworked version of the 1987 classic. Upgrading the original materials with ripstop-like tech and ballistic mesh at the toe box, the signature velcro strap has also been replaced, the Beaverton brand opting for a buckle system on the forefoot with pull tabs that run along the tongues. 3M detailing throughout the upper has also been installed.
Look for the Nike Air Trainer 1 Utility ‘Dark Smoke Grey’ to arrive at Nike over the coming weeks. The retail price is locked at $140.
In the meantime, make sure to check out five about the Air Trainer ahead of the release!
