The has had a fair few collaborations over the past year or so. Midway through 2022, the Swoosh teamed up with to co-create two renditions of the Cortez. They nailed the brief in bringing something new to the sneakersphere, the and utilising an earlier iteration of the classic Cortez shape but with an additional toe bumper. Overall, the look was pretty DIY, with suede and hessian panels clashing with hits of colour, visible stitching and exposed seams. Nike also linked up with longtime collaborators to release an elevated iteration of the silhouette known as the 4.0.
With its becoming a talking point once again in 2023, the timing of Nike releasing a fresh batch of colourways and an updated model (technically known as the Cortez 23) is quite peculiar. Nevertheless, they’re coming, including this latest midnight navy pair, which gives low-key George Costanza vibes. Constructed in full leather uppers (George’s were nylon), white accents are added by way of the Swooshes, laces and soles.
