This Nike Dunk High Features Chinese Characters, Woven Tongues and More!
Chinese New Year 2022 (the Year of the Tiger) begins on February 1, so and have been getting in the festive spirit with seasonally-themed releases. Mostly, these styles boast overt inspirations – for example, the reached for low-hanging fruit with a tiger print and the added festive red ankle ties plus jade details – but a mysterious all-white has been making the rounds as of late and official images just surfaced!
Quite unlike its counterparts, this high-cut presents an unassuming white leather construction, one whose special details can only be seen upon closer inspection. These details include a Chinese character that roughly translates to 'Pick Up' on the lateral heel, a woven tongue and five stars running down the centre of the toebox in place of standard circular perforations. Continuing the details, 'BE TRUE TO YOUR' is debossed on the inner half of the tongue, with a blank space left below – one that would normally read 'School' as a nod to the Dunk's 1985 debut but here encourages the wearer to choose their own meaning. The same 'Pick Up' character from the lateral heel is stamped on the right insole as well.
Nike have yet to provide confirmation of any sort on this Dunk High – its release date, pricing information and official inspirations are still all under wraps. However, if it is indeed a CNY drop, we can likely expect to see it sometime this February.
