Timotheé Chalamet Customises Nike Dunk Low For 'Wonka'

Nike sneakers showing up in movies isn’t anything new, and sneakers such as the Nike Air Mag from ‘Back to the Future’ have transcended sneaker culture and have cemented their place in pop culture. The newest movie hoping to cash in on the sneaker phenomenon is 'Wonka' starring Timotheé Chalamet. As part of the movie's promotion, the newest Willy Wonka has designed a custom pair of Nike Dunks for the movie, limited to 5 pairs.

This isn’t the first time Nike has delved into Willy Wonka-inspired sneakers, as an unofficial Nike SB Dunk dubbed the ‘Oompa Loompa’ colourway takes its hues from the characters. In an interview with Complex, Chalamet states he visited the Nike WHQ in Beaverton and designed the sneaker around Willy Wonka’s origin story. Tattered Swooshes with embroidery overlay the upper takes from Wonka’s jacket lining, with velvet touches throughout. Gone is the Nike branding on the tongue, replaced with a Wonka W with a white midsole and chocolate brown outsole finishing off the sneaker. A velvet dustbag with the same Wonka W with a custom wooden box comes with the extremely limited sneaker.

The Nike Dunk Low ‘Wonka’ is limited to 5 pairs, but like a Golden Ticket, you get a chance through a giveaway in promotion with the upcoming film. Unfortunately, the competition is limited to those in the United States, so the rest of us will just have to imagine how sweet it would taste.
