Nike Gifts Serena Williams ‘Memorable Moments’ Air Force 1s
If you’re a fan of tennis or fashion, you’ll no doubt recall many of epic performances and outfits over the years. Now, has gifted Williams some ‘memorable moments’ to celebrate both of those departments. The tennis star has taken to Instagram to show off the pairs, which include four custom AF-1s, each commemorating a point of significance in her career.
The first pair was inspired by her iconic Y2K ‘jean skirt’ that she wore at the 2004 US Open, which, with uppers covered in denim, look like they’ve been plucked straight out of the 2000s. The second pair was inspired by one of Williams’ Virgil Abloh-designed tennis tutus worn during the 2018 US Open. This pair features the iconic Off-White quotation marks reading ‘SERENA’, with the uppers coloured in lilac to reflect the dress’s colour.
The next pair was inspired by an outfit from 2018 – Williams’ Roland Garros jumpsuit, which she describes as ‘memorable, epic and fun’, despite there being a dispute over it at the time. The pair is predominantly black, mimicking the outfit with big bold Swooshes in red. They also feature her ‘S ’ logo as the lace dubraes.
Last but not least is a bright blue pair with hot pink midsoles. These AF-1s have been inspired by Williams’ outfit from the 2021 Australian Open, which paid homage to the one-legged bodysuits worn by American Olympic gold medalist track star Florence Griffith Joyner.
