Nike Go Green with the Daybreak ‘Catechu’
Recently, has been blessing many of their base models with cork-inspired makeovers, hitting the tongues of the and with embroidered plant graphics. Next up, the has decided to chime into the conversation, with a ‘Catechu’-inspired look.
Looking similar to the many ‘Cork’ iterations we’ve seen, Catechu actually is an extracted material of the Acacia Tree, and is usually used on food or as a dye. However, Team Swoosh has instead ground up the material and infused it into their rubber to create an environmentally friendly outsole. The colourway of this Daybreak is fairly subtle, the whole upper and midsole have been doused in white with a ‘Light Ochre’ making up the Swoosh, tongue and heel label. A dark brown outsole finishes off the look. The materials used include a nylon base with crispy suede overlays, as added flair comes from the embroidered plant that stays along the lateral heel.
No exact release date has surfaced for the Nike Daybreak ‘Catechu’, however, we hear that it should be arriving at retailers soon. Retail will be about $90.
