The Nike Ja 1 ‘Scratch’ is Ready to Draw Blood

Few players in the NBA inspire the kind of awe that Ja Morant generates. Consistently attacking the rim with reckless abandon, the 23-year-old high-flyer will no doubt be making Nike execs sweat as he continues to thrash the Ja 1, a signature sneaker he debuted on Christmas Day, 2022.

The Nike Ja 1 is now finally approaching its retail release, with Nike today releasing official images of the Nike Ja 1 ‘Scratch’. Taking inspiration from the Memphis Grizzlies NBA uniform, the colourway features bear-like claw marks on the Swooshes and lateral portions of the model. Morant’s logo emblazons the tongue, while his signature on the lateral adds more persona flare. An embroidered ‘12’ text (Ja’s Memphis Grizzlies number) features on both heels.

One of Nike’s most affordable performance sneakers on the market, the Ja 1 features a similar aesthetic to two of Morant’s favourite silhouettes – the Nike KD 4 and Kobe 6. In terms of tech, the Ja 1 features a forefoot Air Zoom bag, a midfoot lockdown system, and raised sidewalls for takeoff and landing support.

Look for the Nike Ja 1 ‘Scratch’ to arrive via Nike and select retailers over the coming months.
