Update December 14, 2023: We have more looks and a rumoured release date. Reports suggest that we will be seeing the 'Italian Camo' Kobe 6 in Protro form on April 13, but this is yet to be confirmed by Nike. While we wait for a locked in release date, these early in-hand looks from @fuelkicks provide detailed glimpses at this new tooling of the beloved 2011 retro.

Earlier this year, Nike confirmed that their Kobe line would be returning, and fans have been speculating on the drops ever since. The latest rumour suggests that another OG colourway of the Nike Kobe 6 could return to the shelves very soon, so here’s what we know so far.

The Kobe 6 Protro ‘Italian Camo’ first dropped back in 2011, but it looks like it’s gearing up for its comeback. The colourway nods to Kobe Bryant’s Italian roots with shades that are loosely based on Italy’s diverse landscape, which includes mountains, vineyards and its coastline. This inspiration is channelled through the patterns seen in the shoe’s camo uppers, while the snakeskin texture ties the pair in with the rest of the Kobe 6 line. In contrast with the green and black uppers, red accents highlight the Swooshes and Kobe branding hits.

In honour of the late player’s legacy, the Kobe line was largely put on pause for a couple of years. Now, thanks to the blessing of his wife Vanessa, the Swoosh is all set to continue telling Kobe’s story through sneakers.
