Kylian Mbappé Previews Nike’s TN-Inspired Mercurial Football Boot

Update January 3, 2024: The Nike TN isn’t exactly a football casual classic, but it is one of those silhouettes that continues to transcend genres. Late last year, it was rumoured that the Air Max Plus would soon be dropping in football boot form – and sure enough, the style made its debut in early 2024 on the feet of Kylian Mbappé.

The Nike Mercurial Superfly 9FG pays homage to the Tuned 1 by mimicking its wavy upper and arriving in a shade of ‘Voltage Purple’ with ‘Total Orange’ accents. To dial up the practicality factor, the boots also came equipped with knitted sock-like ankle collars and TP reinforcements. Underfoot, the boot sported its usual cleat pattern and also featured 3M and iridescent detailing, as well as ‘ZM AIR’ branding and Zoom Air-assisted outsoles.

For those looking to up their five-a-side game, the TN-inspired Mercurial Boots will touch down in the spring and are expected to come in special-edition packaging. Stay locked for all the info as it comes in.

As the lines between sports and fashion have become more and more blurred, sneaker-themed football boots and cleats are becoming a frequent sight. Now, the Nike Mercurial boot is expected to receive the same treatment, and the rumours suggest that the Swoosh will be looking to the Air Max Plus TN for inspiration.

According to footyheadlines, Nike is gearing up to release the TN-themed Mercurial boots in January 2024. Back in October, it was also revealed that Nike were working on an Air Force 1-themed boot, using the Tiempo Legend as a base.
