Nike Explore the Future of Sports Design in ‘No Finish Line’ Book
After ticking over the big 5-0 last year, are releasing a new book titled No Finish Line that offers a glimpse into what the next few decades could look like for sport, innovation and design. The text looks back on how the Swoosh’s past 50 years will inform the next 50, explored via speculative fiction and a series of essays.
No Finish Line opens with a paragraph from Nike’s chief design officer John Hoke:
‘It’s been said that the best way to predict the future is to create it. At Nike, we wholeheartedly agree. For over 50 years, we’ve endeavored to create a better future for athletes. This compels us forward, always. When we say, ‘There is no finish line,’ it’s not a lazy reference to an unending grind or destination-less journey, but rather an expression of our belief in the limitless potential of sport – and design.’
Tech writer Geoff Manaugh then speculates on what Nike innovation will look like in the future, which is reinforced by essays written by Sam Grawe, author of . Grawe interviewed over a dozen Nike figures for exclusive insight to inform these essays, which focus on five major design shifts he sees happening.
No Finish Line is available on February 14 from select bookstores globally.
