The Nike ‘NY vs NY’ 2022 Basketball Tournament Concludes at Rucker Park

The Nike ‘NY vs NY’ basketball tournament triumphantly returned this year, bringing together New York City’s young and emerging high school talent. After playing throughout the city’s famous basketball courts throughout the summer months of June, July and August, the champions will be decided this weekend at Rucker Park.

12 girls and boys teams have been contesting fiercely at venues including the newly refurbished Watson Park, Dyckman Park, Gersch Park, Lincoln Park, and Milbank. Rain has affected some of the outdoor venues in previous weeks, but hopefully the weather holds up this weekend for the final showdown at Rucker Park.

Not only is this venue one of NYC’s most well-known basketball locations, but it has a particular poignance with sports and sneaker fans. The late Kobe Bryant famously played in the Entertainer's Basketball Classic 20 years ago in 2002, delivering a masterclass that many will never forget.

Commemorating this year’s tournament is the Air Force 1 ‘NY vs NY’, which is inspired by the city’s basketball courts and also depicts the teams playing on the insoles.
