Nike Potentially Retroing the Kobe 6 Protro ‘All-Star’ in 2021
The legacy lives on with reissues of his golden era signature sneakers. 2020 saw the return of quite a few , and it looks like its sequel is coming back over the next few months of early 2021. This December will get things going with the releasing almost 10 years to the day they debuted back in 2010. Potentially following this is the red-hued ‘All-Star’ edition that returns in Protro format, i.e. with modern materials and tech in ‘retro’ shape.
This Kobe 6 continues the low-cut design preferred by Bryant, which was previously used on versions 4 and 5, and features a black-to-red gradient on the layered mesh and scaly uppers. The red represents the Western Conference All-Star team that Bryant appeared for 18 times during his 20-year tenure with LA Lakers. A stark white printed Swoosh adds contrast, while black heel counters, lining, tongue, and midsole forefoot blend in tonally. Zoom Air is hidden inside the white heel pod plus the forefoot, while the outsole is icy for extra grip on the hardwood. Patterned shoelaces complete the retro.
