Nike Take the Air Max 97 to South Beach Yet Again
The colourway makes regular appearances in contemporary folklore, and is a persistent decoration on the . Having already shown up twice in the past three years, the arrival of this new edition raises the ‘South Beach’ AM97/year average to an annual drop.
Pink and teal is definitely a retro colour combination, and the AM97 is also now old enough to be considered old-school, despite its futuristic design ethos. While the last two ‘South Beach’ releases took full advantage of the 97’s multilayered uppers, this new arrangement shows a relative amount of restraint and restricts the Miami hues to a mere two narrow strips on the upper. The rest is left pure powder white, hiding the model’s signature reflective stripes until they’re hit with a flash.
However, the colour pop doesn’t stop at just the aforementioned morsel. There’s plenty of teal in the lining, insole and tongue. Plus it also makes its way onto the entirety of the visible Air soles. A couple more pink touches can be found on the heel tab and arch Swooshes.
Keep an eye out at local Nike retailers over the next little while for the latest addition to the Air Max 97 ‘South Beach’ story.
