have paid homage to the oldest university for Black women in the United States with a sleek . Spelman College was founded in 1881 and is now a global leader in the education of women with African descent. The design of the Terminator celebrates this legacy with a whopping seven nods to the Atlanta college.
The iteration starts with a smooth leather base and suede overlays, both in shades of grey. Spelman’s signature blue colour is then used across the Swoosh, sock liner, tongue trim and laces. The tongue tag features the school’s emblem on the front and the words ‘A Choice to Change the World’ on the back. The sock liner features jaguar print, as this is the school’s mascot, and that theme continues down onto the insole, which has jaguar paws.
Next up are the laces, which has the inscription ‘Undaunted by the fight’ – pointing to the book that was written in 2005 about a handful of Spelman students and faculty who risked their lives and careers to participate in the Civil Rights Movement. 1881 also features on the lateral side in the Spelman blue, and lastly, the heel reads ‘Thy Name We Praise’ – an excerpt from the college’s hymn.
