Nike Reveal Giannis Antetokounmpo's Zoom Freak 4
has come a long way from the skinny kid who shared shoes with his brother Thanasis growing up in Greece. These days, he's a two-time MVP, one-time NBA Champion, already the Milwaukee Bucks' all-time scoring leader and one of the most popular (and electrifying) players in the NBA. His journey was spotlighted in the recently-released Disney+ film , and now, in celebration of Rise's arrival, have given us an official look at Antetokounmpo's forthcoming Zoom Freak 4.
As its name would indicate, the Zoom Freak 4 is Antetokounmpo's fourth signature sneaker. Though it retains some of the design language from his past three models, it also pushes his line in a bold new direction. Its backwards Swoosh is moved to the quarter panel, enlarged and branded with motivational text that reads 'the one who believed would become the unbelievable,' while the multiple fused panels provide plenty of room to experiment with colourblocking.
Tech specs for the shoe have yet to be revealed, but the top half appears to be built of various synthetics and fused mesh. There's also a visible Zoom Air puck at the forefoot that's surrounded by an unadorned foam midsole – likely Phylon. The cushioning setups in Giannis' past three signature shoes were all front-loaded to support his athletic, explosive play, and that appears to be the case here as well.
You can expect the Zoom Freak 4 to begin rolling out later this year, with the first drop set to go down in August. A date of August 5 has been floated but has yet to be officially confirmed by the Swoosh.
