'Black Pigeon' Campout Disbanded by NYPD
Déjà vu. Heads converged on the Lower East Side’s Orchard Street – where the OG x Nike SB Low 'Pigeon' released 12 years ago – to set up camp at the Reed Space one-day pop-up hosted by Extra Butter. The 'Black Pigeon' beckoned.
With the arrival of the fuzz, however, hopes fizzled. On edge after the ‘Pigeon’ Dunk-induced riot of 2005, NYPD shut down the campout. Via Staple's Insta, disbanded diehards were told to return at 6am, assured by the designer that there were enough ‘Black Pigeons’ to go around. Comments of the 'gram tell a different story. Cold, wet and weary hopefuls were furious to learn that 'enough for everyone' actually meant 'enough for 300'. Those with wristbands were doubly assured they'd walk away with what they came for, but unfortunately that also proved untrue. The release was branded wildly disorganised - looks like Extra Butter have some buttering up to do before their next big release.
