Pato Customs' Dragon Ball Z Air Jordan 1 is Anime-zing
Pato Customs is a fledging sneaker artist hailing from Germany. Their work to date has referenced various tropes in the sneaker custom world: airbrushed graphics, modified Swooshes on and , and cartoonishly thick rope laces. For their latest project – self-proclaimed as ‘my craziest art work’ – they’ve combined all of these elements into one over-the-top AJ1 inspired by Dragon Ball Z character Buu.
As the uppers are heavily perforated, it looks like Pato Customs have used the ‘First In Flight’ release as a base model. Not a single component of these shoes have been left stock. Most obviously, the upper panels have been painted in various shades of pink, grey and yellow, which is met with different caricatures and remakes of the DBZ villain. Next, the original Swooshes have been removed, and the right shoe’s lateral has been replaced with a custom cut ‘Ki Blast’ protruding from the graphic of Kid Buu. Those aforementioned rope laces make an appearance, and their lightly aged finish matches the yellow tinge on the midsoles.
It appears Pato Customs is still working on perfecting their craft, so these AJ1s are for the time being not for sale.
