Update December 18, 2023: One retailer has taken an interesting approach to preventing the resale of limited stock. Skate chain Crooks have asked raffle winners of the Powerpuff Girls x Nike SB Dunk Low to prove their cop is for wearing, not reselling. Customers are asked to wear their brand new kicks. But that's not all. The store then is commanding patrons to destroy the sneakers' boxes! The outlet shared videos on Instagram of fans enthusiastically hopping, jumping, and stomping on the packaging in their brand new 'Buttercup', 'Blossom', and 'Bubbles' kicks. Considering how hotly anticipated this drop was, it's a bold approach that's dividing some sneakerheads online. We'll see if it takes off.

Update July 24, 2023: According to the latest rumour developments, not only are the Powerpuff Girls x Nike SBs actually arriving, they'll be dropping this year. Per @thesolesorcerer, there will be three SB Dunks coming (one for each Powerpuff Girl), with each pair featuring specialised heel tabs highlighting each character's eye. Each colourway will allegedly see an individual release, in a similar vein to the Grateful Dead x Nike SB drop. Stay locked for more information.

Another day, another sneaker rumour. The latest going around suggests that a Powerpuff Girls collaboration could be arriving with Nike SB. The rumours have been linked back to @dadeasskickz, who stated on social media that the collaboration would be arriving in 2023. If true, it’s possible that colab could be one of the most sought-after of the year, considering its inspiration comes from one of the most iconic 90s cartoons ever. Starring the famous crime-fighting trio Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup, not to mention the quirky Professor Utonium and, of course, the evil Mojo Jojo, there’s no doubt plenty to bring to life with this colab.

Nike SB haven’t shut down the rumours as yet, and it’s worth noting that, in the past, they typically haven’t been shy to do so. Just last year, they quashed the rumour there’d be a three-way colab coming with Eminem and Carhartt. And there was that recent ‘Heineken’ rumour, too.
