PUMA and MTV Celebrate 80s Music with Trio of Special Suedes
and global retailer have teamed up with MTV to create a trio of designs that celebrate the iconic hip hop music scene from the 1980s. Each pair directly references the ground-breaking MTV show Yo! MTV Raps, which was the first hip hop show to appear on the network, and aired in the late-80s and early-90s.
The three different pairs each cater to a wide variety of tastes, with one rocking a very colourful aesthetic, another choosing a solid black base before adding small pops of colour, and the third opting for tan upper with vibrant branding hits.
To help launch the collection, PUMA and JD have partnered with MTV on a Yo! MTV Raps Streets digital content series that is based around London, Berlin and Paris, featuring artists Chip, Badchieff and Bosh. Set to go live later this month, the Yo! MTV Raps Streets series will adopt a fast-paced music storytelling format that takes music back to its source. The host of each episode will walk and talk with the artists around their neighbourhood to find out more about the people and places that shaped them. Talking music and fashion influences, latest music releases, videos and future plans, the episodes promise to provide an entertaining insight.
