PUMA Gets Avant-Garde With Coperni
are entering the avant-garde sphere with the help of Parisian designer Coperni, who are now the second-ever fashion collaborators to work on original designs with PUMA. In this partnership, the goal was to create an innovative piece of footwear that takes the aesthetic of a dress shoe and gives it the specifications and tech of a performance football boot. The result is a seamless blend between sport and fashion that comes in a white, black, and yellow colourways.
The silhouette is sharp and sleek, with the toe box creating a squared edge before slimming down through the centre. Even though each iteration is completely blocked out in one colour, there is still texture through the use of different materials. The base layer has a lined pattern that runs almost parallel to the shape of the shoe, with raised overlays in three different materials giving the design depth. One of those includes the PUMA cat outline jumping across the front of the toe. The Coperni branding is seen in white or black on the lateral side.
On the partnership, PUMA’s Global Creative Director, Heiko Desens, says, ‘Coperni is a visionary, futurist partner. We want to bring innovation and technology into the fashion space, and that really excites me’. Coperni’s founders Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant say, ‘We are so grateful to PUMA for opening us the doors of their innovation department. We look forward to seeing people wearing our common avant-garde and sharp aesthetic’.
The PUMA x Coperni colab is set to launch in January 2024.
