YouTube Cobbler Rose Anvil Cuts Up Wave Runners, Reveals ‘The Truth About Yeezy 700’
Leather and metal craftsman turned popular YouTube creator Weston Kay, aka Rose Anvil, is known for his comprehensive teardowns of shoes, boots and sneakers in long video format. For the month of ‘Yepril’, he has taken a knife to the and analysed every part of the design to assess its quality.
The deep dissection begins with the shoes ‘peeled apart like an onion’ as Kay unpicks various upper panels, revealing where they start and end. This is followed by arguably the most dramatic part of the video – leather testing – whereby he sets each sample swatch alight to identify whether it’s synthetic or animal derived. However, this isn’t mindless destruction; a detailed explanation of fake versus real leather is provided afterwards, which is also helpful as Kay then figures out the type of material used on each panel of the ‘Wave Runner’.
If the pyrotechnics aren’t explosive enough, the 700s are then cut down the centre with a band saw, exposing the inner construction and its BOOST cushioning. The latter is where Kay gets scientific, as he measures the hardness of the midsoles using a durometer.
What’s Rose Anvil’s overall assessment of the Yeezy BOOST 700 ‘Wave Runner’? Watch below to find out.
