Serena Williams Design Crew Paint the Nike Air Max 1 Orange

The Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC) was founded in 2020 to provide a platform for diverse designers and innovators to work alongside Serena Williams and Nike. Ten talented apprentices are chosen each year and together they create a collection of new Nike designs. The first model of the 2023 class here, and it's coming in bright.

The SWDC x Nike Air Max 1 has a vibrant orange upper, with two shades of orange employed. There are a range of textures as well to give extra dimension to the model. The toe panel is constructed of dark orange leather with perforations for breathability, and there is a light orange accent panel made of a furry material across the front. The main overlays extend from the eyestays and cover the back lateral area and around the heel. They are constructed in the same dark orange of the toe panel in thick leather with a raised panel that features an imbedded Swoosh.

The model is balanced by a white midsole and outsole, acting as the perfect contrast to the bright orange. There are hints of ‘Clear Jade’ throughout as well, featuring on a small Swoosh on the lateral toe, the Air Max bubbles, the heel branding and the insole. Serena’s signature also features on the insole.

There’s no release date for the Serena Williams Design Crew x Nike Air Max 1 yet, but is expected to land in the next few months at Nike. Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates on the release date.
