Shawn Stussy Revives S-DOUBLE with Hill Bros. and Globe
After days of speculation surrounding Shawn Stussy’s return to streetwear, we finally have confirmation of his latest project after a sign was spotted outside Globe’s company headquarters in Melbourne.
‘I have a new project coming with the Hill bros. and the Globe crew,’ the sign reads. ‘We are making goods again under my "S-DOUBLE" mark. We all started working together 30 years ago… After I retired the tides have changed and shifted and now we find ourselves perched to have another go at it!!’ The announcement comes after a series of social media posts by Shawn, one of which read, ‘retirement is nice, but [it’s] time to engage for a long ride into the future.’
After stepping away from streetwear leviathan in 1996, Shawn founded S-DOUBLE in 2008, allowing him to continue his creative endeavours without the pressures of a large-scale operation. Conceived by Shawn and a team of Japanese creatives, S-DOUBLE featured a range of in-house apparel and high-end collaborations with Tokyo stalwarts like , and The brand name reflects a play on Shawn’s initials and the notion of doubling down on his original passions: surfboards and apparel. S-DOUBLE has been a subdued presence in recent years, but it looks like that’s all set to change with this new project, which according to the sign will involve the Hill Brothers and the Globe crew.
Founded in 1984 by brothers Peter, Stephen, and Matt Hill, the Globe brand became known for their chunkified skate shoes like the CT-IV in the late 1990s. No more information surrounding the project is currently available, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
