The ‘Alley Cats’ were heard purring in Melbourne and Tokyo over the weekend with pairs hitting virtual shelves on the Sneaker Freaker Shop and IRL at the atmos pop-up! This three-way linkup was our purr-fect colab comeback, flying across the pond to touch base with our Nippon homies at atmos and ASICS.

The GEL-Lyte III OG was the ultimate split-tongue base to execute our ‘Alley Cats’ vision. Sneaker Freaker’s hometown of Melbourne is sprawling with alleyways that are a haven for cultural hubs – from cool cafes to heavy techno clubs that never close. atmos’ base of Tokyo is one the world’s great megalopolises and the Harajuku neighbourhood is teaming with side streets that house niche boutiques, bars and restaurants. Paying homage to each party’s respective cities, the ‘Alley Cats’ are decked out in wild materials, from tactile cowhide, shiny purple satin and shorthair grey suede. Fitting the gritty narrative is the speckled midsole and toxic outsole touches.

There’s more than meets the eye with this feline freak! Scripted on the split satin tongues are alternating logo hits, with mismatched heel branding on the rear and graphic insoles. Bringing the OG flavour are rubberised vents, and when the lights are turned off the Tiger Stripes are glow-in-the-dark. You’ll also receive a dual pack of laces, with toxic green adding a nice pop while the purple makes for an ultra-stealthy vibe.
