Sneaker Freaker’s Saucony Book Is Finally Here!
Sneaker Freaker are celebrating 125th birthday by packing their most memorable moments into an absolutely loaded hardcover tome. Clocking in at over 230 pages, the eponymous title chronicles the brand’s storied journey from a family-run shoemaking underdog into a formidable contender in the athletic footwear game.
Much like Saucony’s strive for success, this book has been a labour of love many years in the making. As our editor-in-chief Woody remarks in the foreword, ‘vintage catalogues, tech-laden product descriptions and old magazine advertisements – augmented by endless Google searches – are handy research tools, but nothing beats going straight to the human heart of a story.’
As such, tell-all interviews with key figures from Saucony’s past and present flesh out the triumphs and challenges of a tale that dates all the way back to 1898. Former CEO John Fisher reflects on being the last in five generations of a near-100-year dynasty.
Stories from super athlete Rod Dixon and behind-the-design insights from Jon ‘The Jazz Man’ Werman and Chris Mahoney – plus a complete retrospective of Saucony’s greatest performance shoes – G.R.I.D. out the tech sheet.
As this is Sneaker Freaker, we’ve naturally located the world’s most impressive Saucony collections. Moscow is home to Sergey Vetrov and his 650-plus pair stash of vintage and modern pairs, while a dip across to Stockholm sees ‘Shadowlurking’ with a very comprehensive collaborative roster of Saucony Originals.
This money-can't-buy book just launched at the Saucony House of Originals event during Have a flick through the photos above for an exclusive look inside the pages.
