Solebox Built an Air Jordan 3 ‘Black Cement’ Cement Mixer
The return of the legendary ‘Black Cement’ is right around the corner, November 23 to be exact, and are celebrating harder than most! Ahead of the launch, the German retailer has created a 'Black Cement'-themed cement mixer truck, complete with elephant print graphics and co-branding.
No other model is as synonymous with Jordan Brand’s ‘Black Cement’ colourway than the AJ3. Originally, this storied iteration debuted during the 1988 NBA All-Star Game, where MJ scored 40 points, made eight rebounds, three assists and four steals. During said game, Jordan Brand commercials aired showing the GOAT in his prime rocking the legendary AJ3s.
The first retro of the model came in 2001 with OG Nike Air branding. Next up was 2008, where the ‘Black Cement’ featured as part of the countdown pack that helped celebrate Jordan Brand’s 23rd anniversary. This pair actually hosted the new Jumpman logo instead of Nike Air. Next up was the 2011 pair, which left a bad taste in the mouth of fans with horrendous leather used on the upper and lack of Nike Air. Seven years later though and the OG returned to the OG build. This year will be the first time since 2018 that the ‘Black Cement’ will return in OG form to sneaker store shelves.
