Closer Look: Steve Wiebe Inks Jayson Tatum’s Air Jordan 4 PE
Canadian tattoo artist Steve Wiebe is no stranger to the sneaker world, having (l)inked up with on his own collaboration back in 2018. Five years later, his handiwork shows up on another pair of Jays; this time, it’s a pair of Air Jordan 4s for popular player and JB athlete .
Taking heavy inspiration from Tatum’s fairly extensively tattooed body, Wiebe applies a similar finish to the detailed upper of these AJ4s. Using a black, white and red configuration reminiscent of the ‘Bred’ OG, the substituted canvas upper sets a useful foundation for the graphic treatment that covers heel to toe. The frayed panel edges also add textural depth to the already busy appearance, but factory-spec rubberised mesh inserts on the tongue and sides, plus translucent lace ‘wings’ help ground the concept. This milky yellow colour also appears on the heel tab and outsole.
As with many Player Exclusives, it’s best not to anticipate pairs of these ever reaching a retail release. However, with the proliferation of sample collectors and extremely well-connected sneakerheads out there, don’t be surprised if these 4s end up in the hands of people not named Jayson Tatum. For now, check out these shots by brand associate .
