Update November 29, 2023: There appears to be a third colourway for this anniversary release... A mysterious 'Pecan' colour scheme has emerged in the form of some in-hand photos from . The pair are supposedly unreleased, but according to the account, they're due for release on December 9, alongside the confirmed colourways. This is an interesting leak considering Nike haven't confirmed this version yet. They look authentic, but we'll be keeping an eye out for more confirmation that they are in fact legit. If you couldn’t already tell by its name, the released in 1989, meaning the heritage hooper will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2024. Looking to start the party early, a first look has arrived of a collaboration, with the streetwear brand putting their signature touches on the decades-old model. Rumours of this linkup first started circling in July this year, but this is the first concrete information yet.
The Air Flight 89 has enjoyed some relative success over the years, especially between 2012 and 2015. More recently, in 2019, Nike resurrected the silhouette after a dormant few years. Sharing DNA with the Air Jordan 4, the two share the same sole-unit and various other design details. For the leaked Stussy variation, the streetwear brand has opted for classic red and white colour-blocking alongside 80s-style perforations. Adding their own touches, a snakeskin midfoot panel with double-S banding catches the eye, while ‘Air Stussy’ branding reaches the tongue.
While anniversary celebrations aren’t expected to start until 2024, Stussy and Nike are allegedly dropping their Air Flight 89 during the tail-end of this year. Other colourways have also been rumoured to be part of this collection, although there’s been no imagery surface as of yet.
