Last year Pharrell launched his JOOPITER auction platform, which has since seen plenty of rare archival heat go on sale, including jewellery and sneakers from the artist’s personal stash. For their next venture, titled ‘Chasing Grails’, three mythical Supreme x Nike SB Dunk High samples will be made available, and they’re estimated to go for upwards of $30k each!

These are slightly different to the pairs made available via Supreme channels in August 2003, featuring Nike Swooshes instead of stars along the midfoot panel. The story of these unicorn samples are entrenched in sneaker lore, stating that when this collaboration was in the works, Supreme chose to use the Swoosh detailing, but the design was rejected, and they ended up releasing the star version. It wasn’t known if pairs still existed, until recently, when a complete set of colourways that pay homage to Team Swoosh’s 1986 ‘Be True to Your School’ collection surfaced.

Each of the three sample pairs boasts faux-croc-embossed leather uppers in their respective colour, with a stuffed SB tongue and midfoot panel doused in gold Swooshes. All are dead stock and come with extra laces, Sample tags and gold Supreme-branded lace dubrae.

Sourced from a private collection in New York, JOOPITER will begin the bidding for these three pairs on September 26 and close the auction on October 3. Each pair is estimated to go for between $30,000 – $50,000, find the listings here.
