The 2021 Nike Air Max BW ‘Persian Violet’ Retro Brings the Details
Following that emerged at the beginning of the year regarding its return, the in its OG ‘Persian Violet’ will indeed be getting retroed. And from these e-comm shots above, they’re looking pretty good. Especially considering the 2016 retro had the most devout BW fans asking for more.
It appears there have been some important revisions to the 2021 edition that will be sure to appease the most stringent of sneakerheads. One major fix is the material used on the tongue and ankle collar, which was glaringly the incorrect type of mesh on the last retro. Nike have rectified the matter by specifying a more accurate padded nylon, which allows the tongue branding to be boldly debossed.
Other notable mods include a much more vibrant shade of ‘Persian Violet’, compared to the somewhat washed finish of the 2016 edition. The black mesh uppers and synthetic mudguards are also much deeper in hue, contrasting crisply against the minimal white accents and midsole. On the midsole, it remains to be seen whether the shaded heel strip and its surrounding areas will be afflicted by the paint cracking issue that’s been a source of chagrin since at least the early-2000s BW retros.
In any case, the 2021 Nike Air Max BW ‘Persian Violet’ retro is on a path to redemption. Stay tuned for release dates.
