The Nike Air Max 97 ‘Silver Bullet’ Picks Up Purple
The most recognisable colourway is the OG ‘Silver Bullet’ scheme. Over the years, this super shiny sneaker has returned in one-to-one reproduction of its launch colourway, down to the red accents on the Swoosh arch embroidery and outsole strips. However, this next edition goes against the grain ever so slightly, swapping out the hot-blooded colour for vibrant ‘Violet’.
The colour of royalty (and ‘Persian’ Air Classic BWs too) dresses up the scant areas that aren’t modelled after , which includes the lateral and medial arch Swooshes, a matching tongue logo, insole print, and even the stitching on the rear ankle pull tab. However, where this rich colour is most obvious is inside the full-length Air unit, whereby the internal structures are shaded, as opposed to the white of the OG.
Otherwise, everything else sticks to the script: silver synthetic mudguards overlaid on a mesh base, hidden speed loop lacing, and the requisite reflective strips running around the uppers.
Some online commentary is already calling the colourway ‘Purple Bullet’. Quite a fitting name, and they’ll probably be a sell-out success once they eventually hit Nike retailers at some point later this year. Keep an eye out for that flash!
