The Shoe Surgeon Marks LeBron James’ NBA Scoring Record With Nike LeBron 20 Customs
has made basketball history by becoming the all-time leading points scorer in the NBA, breaking the 38-plus-year record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Among the countless celebrations of this milestone is a pair of custom put together by that commemorates key stats en route to the record.
In typical Surgeon style, the textile uppers of the LeBron 20 are substituted for white exotic reptile leather, which looks like alligator skin. This sets a clean base for gold detailing (what other colour could’ve worked here?) on the Swoosh, which is also in alligator, lining, midsole accents, and other branding elements.
Upon taking a closer look at the midsole, there are a lot of handwritten stats and dates pointing to scoring achievements James reached en route to the number one position. For example, the left medial forefoot reads ‘3.19.22’, referencing the day he overtook Karl Malone’s points tally to be second on the list. The most significant number, of course, is the 38,388 on the outsoles – one more point than Abdul-Jabbar’s career total.
The shoes also come packaged in a custom marble-look box bearing LBJ’s crown logo. Don’t expect him to play in these shoes, but they’ll certainly remind him of this momentous occasion.
