This Almost ‘Triple Black’ Nike Air Max 95 Ultra Beats the Blues
The Ultra is a modernised version of the legendary Sergio Lozano design that sees its famous layered panelling merged into a slick and seamless layer, paired to updated midsole tooling. Despite the relative lack of texture to the OG, this alternate design still packs a lot of depth thanks to its almost ‘Triple Black’ colourway that’s been jazzed up with some sharp blue accents. Seasoned fans of the AM95 will no doubt compare this colourway to the many JD Sports exclusives the retailer has carried over the years, all of which featured blue hits in some capacity.
Its upper may be entirely synthetic, but the AM95 Ultra is the real deal. Nike’s tech update to the model includes sonic welded panels that replicate the OG 95’s layered strips while keeping the weight down. Used in combination with mesh, this lightweight upper is also breathable. Furthermore, the use of synthetic allows the silhouette to be a bit more sharp and sculpted than the original.
Similarly, the grey midsole has been tweaked to accommodate longer and lower Air units, enabling extra Air Max branding to be displayed on the heel units. The outsole pattern has also been modified to reference the original waffle pattern on the forefoot, but the spacing and tread has been enlarged overall.
Keep an eye out for this Air Max 95 Ultra to hit stores in coming months.
