This Sneaker Concept From Li-Ning Designer Zhao Zhikun Will Blow Your Mind
In a saturated market of retros, sometimes uninspired colourways, and , it's always refreshing to see footwear designers come up with something that genuinely makes you go 'wow' when you first see it. One such creation is this mind-bending sneaker concept from designer Zhao Zhikun (aka Cairc Design), which blends artistic elements with a modern basketball-inspired silhouette.
At first glance, the design reminds us of adidas’ ‘Feet You Wear’ classics, blessed with a contoured tonal sole unit done in a soft pink tone. The bubbly shapes extend across the sole, with different angles and patterns, including golf-ball-like dimples, straight lines, bulbous clouds, and a double cross detail. Down below on the outsole, the wavy look continues, with a Yeezy-esque chunky construction. Moving up top, the cloud-like aesthetic continues thanks to the velvety material which dresses the upper. Adding further textural depth, the ankle collar and tongue are done in a crisscross mesh. Now that’s a lot to wrap your head around!
No drop date for these has been revealed, and they’re unlikely to ever release being a conceptual design. That said, we wouldn’t be against it!
