This ‘Triple Black’ Nike Air Max Plus Isn’t Like the Other Ones
Upon its release in 1998, the quickly transcended its performance running origins and became standard issue street footwear everywhere from France to Fitzroy. Another historical diversion from Sean McDowell’s popular design is its shift away from the neon gradient OG colourways towards murkier shades of , all-black, or the murdered-out treatment. Incoming is yet another variation of the blacked-out tonal TN, which should serve as both a and a new pair for niche ‘Triple Black’ collectors to add to their stash.
At a distance, these TNs may look like every other black TN, but closer scrutiny reveals that couldn’t be further from the truth. Naturally, there are some non-negotiable components hard-wired into the design, such as the TPU ribbing on the upper, external toe bumper, and Tuned Air cushioning system. What’s changed here is the closed mesh inserts used on the upper, differing from previous releases that have used materials ranging from honeycomb mesh to moulded nylon. The ankle strip and lower mudguard are also slightly textured, adding further tactile depth.
Now, it’s simply a matter of waiting for this new Nike Air Max Plus ‘Triple Black’ to hit retailers – TNs typically don’t have release dates.
