UFC Fighter Uses Custom Nelk Boys x Air Jordan 1 Lows for Post-Fight ‘Shoey’
UFC heavyweight Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa capped off his first round KO at UFC 264 in trademark style, performing his now-familiar ‘shoey’ celebration with a pair of special . Drawing the attention of eagle-eyed sneakerheads, the Aussie’s post-fight antics involved a unique custom creation: a Nelk Boys x Air Jordan 1 Low gifted to the YouTube stars by UFC president Dana White.
Created by Las Vegas–based customisers and in collaboration with , a High and a Low pair were commissioned by White to celebrate the launch of the Nelk Boys’ new seltzer company Happy Dad. Dressed in the packaging colours of the brand, each pair came housed in specially-made cooler shoeboxes.
‘This is literally the most insane thing that could have ever happened and it feels like I’m living in a dream,’ said Diab following Tuivasa’s celebration. ‘Thank you to everyone who reached out and congratulated me. Everyone that reposted, tagged me, commented – you are all amazing.’
For the uninitiated, a ‘shoey’ is simply the act of drinking from a shoe and, oddly, has become one of Australia’s most noteworthy drinking traditions.
