Another Union x Nike Cortez Could Be on the Way
Leaked images of a new x have emerged via , which follows the thematic and material execution of pairs. While neither Union nor Nike have themselves confirmed nor denied the existence of this collaboration, the increase of unofficial pics and pairs only seems to point towards a likely release in the future.
Like the other pairs, these Cortez are an unconventional remix of the 50-year-old iconic runner. The design follows a slightly earlier configuration of the model, which sees textured rubber bumpers on the toe cap and heel counter, with the latter placement a new feature. Bookmarked between this hardware is a speckled foam midsole that could be a new application of Nike’s Crater Foam recycled material.
Meanwhile, the uppers are decidedly more traditional than the somewhat modernised midsole. A woven hessian-like textile is featured prominently on the sides, showcasing a mixture of red, purple and yellow. These latter two accents are repeated on the large Swoosh, nylon tongue, forefoot eyestays, and laces. The remainder of the upper is soft beige suede, and the insoles are finished with a layer of cork, which are then stamped with repeating Union x Nike Swoosh logos.
If they turn out to be part of the package, there’ll be quite a few pairs of collectors to hunt down.
