US Customs Seize Over 1800 Pairs of Fake Air Diors in $4.3 Million Bust
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have seized a shipment of counterfeit sneakers – including fake – with a total street value of $4.3 million.
CBP officers intercepted a shipment of 60 boxes that were bound for Mexico at the Dallas/Fort Worth port of entry. These boxes were sent from Hong Kong and reportedly labelled as 'Ball Golf', raising suspicion, and were subjected to examination. Inside, the officers uncovered thousands of pairs of counterfeit and sneakers – among them over 1800 pairs of x 'Air Diors'!
Given authentic 'Air Diors' retailed at over $2000, and have been routinely reselling for multiple times that, the CBP came to the estimated street value figure of over $4.3 million.
In FY 2019, the Department of Homeland Security reportedly seized over $37 million worth of counterfeit footwear.
