Welcome Back to the Nike Air Structure Triax 91!
are set to retro the Triax 91 in , following on-and-off whispers on the Internet last year. While the above ecomm shots depict a new colourway – i.e. not the coveted ‘Black Toe’ with bits of Teal/Infrared – the white, navy and gold palette certainly looks period correct.
Originally known as the Air Structure upon its debut back in 1991, this model expanded Nike’s fledging running shoe line. Designed for stability, the Air Structure is characterised by a slightly wider and flat-bottomed sole that uses a modified version of the Swoosh’s groundbreaking Waffle sole pattern. Additional features, including a reinforced visible Air unit at the heel and flex notches at the forefoot, mean this remains one of the most comfortable retro runners from that era.
Upon its reissue during the Nike Sportswear era of the late-2000s, the model gained its incumbent Air Structure Triax 91 moniker to distinguish the retro edition from the contemporary performance version (which is up to its 23rd generation, by the way).
So for 2021, this new colourway has some touches with the palette, but the omission of red should make coordinating outfits a bit easier. Mesh and leather uppers are essential, and the extra eyelets at the forefoot and top are practical features. Stay tuned for drop details.
