Here’s What Experts Had to Say About adidas Ranking Higher Than Yeezy

adidas Yeezy SEO google ranking explained

is once again getting vocal on the internet about grievances he has with . We all saw the post – where caught some strays with Ye saying he was ‘corny and disloyal’ – in which complaints were made around the ‘adidas Yeezy page’ ranking higher than the ‘Yeezy page’ on Google. The TLDR explanation for this is that SEO is obviously the issue, as the German Sportswear brand just has too much search engine optimisation sauce. Getting into the nitty gritty of it all though, we asked some SEO experts from SEOProfy why was this ranking was the case – especially since the adidas Yeezy website was unpublished and they don’t even sell Yeezy sneakers anymore.

Fully Optimised

Google’s algorithm for how they rank websites is hard to understand, and adidas have a big team dedicated to keeping their elite standing on page 1 of searches. One of the biggest reasons why adidas rank higher via their search is that they have a higher DR (Domain Rating). Currently, Yeezy holds a score of 53/100, while the adidas score is a whopping 87. This metric suggests how credible websites are based on backlinks, meaning the adidas homepage is far more authoritative than Yeezy's. The German sportswear brand boasts a mega 33 million backlinks, while the Ye-led company only has around 4000. On top of this, adidas also boasts almost 15 times higher traffic, with last December seeing 26.74 million visits compared to Yeezy’s 1.86 million. The most interesting point though is how IRL stores have affected the ranking in the digital space. According to SEOprofy, ‘Kanye West’s screenshot appears to be a redirect towards Google’s Shopping section, where priority seems to be given to the user’s proximity to physical stores’.

What Ye Can Do?

‘While lack of physical Yeezy stores may be an ongoing disadvantage, there are medium-term solutions that could dramatically improve Google ranking, traffic and sales,’ said Andrew Shum, head of SEO at SEOProfy. ‘Kanye West’s website would rank higher if his team implemented several structural changes to the Yeezy.com website and worked on having other credible websites, like news institutions, not only mention Yeezy, but include a link to their homepage. Our analysis has found no indication that adidas is using paid Google ads to rank higher for Yeezy in the past five years, with the last traces of advertising dated to December 2019.’
