In decades past, mental health wasn't frequently discussed in skateboarding. Tides have begun to shift in recent years though, with pro skaters more honest and open about the mental struggles and hardships they endure during their careers. One of the organizations that's pushing for a more open conversation – and inclusive environment – around mental health and suicide prevention both inside and outside of skateboarding is Why So Sad?, an outfit founded by Scottish professional skater John Rattray. Now, are lending their support to Rattray's movement by cooking up a special Why So Sad? iteration of the .
Likely to be a part of Why So Sad?'s fundraising efforts for this year, these low-cut are loaded with details. The two-tone blue upper's Swoosh wears away to reveal a yellow base, a possible metaphor for shedding sorrow and finding happiness, while Rattray's signature eagle logo can be seen riding a bike on the lateral heel and nailing a handplant on the co-branded insoles. Finishing touches are served up by red and yellow tongue tags with a Why So Sad? text graphic on the inner half, a question mark on the red suede heel tab, custom lace tips and an icy outsole.
Per Nike SB fan account , the Why So Sad? x Nike SB Dunk Low is a general release collaboration and not a quickstrike. This means it should be produced in a fairly large run, which is fitting as its proceeds will likely go to charity. There's currently no word on an exact date of arrival, but more info should surface soon!
