STAPLE Open First Flagship in Iconic NYC Store

Pigeons are the most famous animal in the sneakersphere thanks to 2005 , which featured the common bird on the heel and caused a riot on the streets of New York. Staple has since turned his business into a pigeon empire and the NYC flying rats have found a new store location that is as famous as them. Just this week, STAPLE opened the doors to their very first flagship store at 21 Mercer Street in SOHO, which was the previous location of NikeLAB. There’s a lot of heritage in those walls, but there’s no other New Yorker more worthy than the Pigeon king himself.
The store takes on a clean aesthetic, with a completely white interior save for the warm wooden tables running through the middle and other artistic accents. A plaque in the store reads, ‘In many ways, this is a homecoming. This space represents a fusion of heritage and innovation, paying tribute to the trailblazers that inspired so many, while providing a platform for the next generation of creators and dreamers. It’s about giving back to the culture that shaped all of us – and pushing forward with a vision of unity, hustle, and style. This is why the humble and resilient Pigeon is our spirit animal – respecting all and fearing none.’ Pigeons make their mark throughout the store (as they should), with a number of statue-esque art pieces featured on the tables and a whole flock of realistic birds roosting on top of the shelves.
To mark the grand opening, STAPLE has partnered with on the , which comes dressed appropriately in the OG pigeon palette. The limited edition sneaker will release at the grand opening on March 13, with a further release via Brooks.
