Guadeloupean designer Bisso exudes creative talent: he is a DJ, photographer, all-around artist and a certified sneakerhead. His work includes Uniqlo expo, IKEA x VIRGIL, and soon he will release his fourth sneaker collaboration. His upcoming project with , which drops next month, celebrates his Caribbean roots and the strong women who hold their culture and communities together. The Bisso x Saucony ‘Bondamanjak’ is designed the reflect that essence.

The name ‘Bondamanjak’ is taken from the famous Caribbean pepper, also known as the Habanero pepper, which is one of the spiciest peppers in the world. The colours of the sneaker represent the chilli’s ripening process as it transitions from a docile green to its full mature deep red. The uppers feature a combination of premium suedes and smooth leather in a madras pattern applied randomly throughout so that each pair will be unique. Every detail is a thoughtful tribute to Caribbean culture, and even the packaging highlights the Bondamanjak pepper via the lid and the madras print on the fabric-inspired tissue paper.

On this project, Bisso said: ‘I wanted to pay tribute to my roots, but also to all Caribbean women who, like this chilli pepper, rise to challenges with intensity and grace. Every detail of this sneaker tells a story—one of rich culture, a strong identity, and a heritage that continues to be passed down.’

The Bisso x Saucony 5000 'Bondamanjak' is scheduled to be released on March 1 for $150.
