Dingyun Zhang Introduces the adidas Kouza

may have only previewed his most recent batch of a few days ago, but the Yeezy alumni has just revealed an even more creative venture with the Three Stripes. Zhang has now introduced the adidas , a new model with a host of techy details, born from a somewhat unlikely inspiration.

The Kouza’s concept pulls from the idea of transformation between old and new – the name ‘Kouza’ references an East Asian plant whose appearance changes across the seasons – but it may still come as a surprise to learn that it pulls from a 2000s boxing boot, in terms of its netted mesh upper at least. The rest of the shoe comes constructed from a mix of materials, with taped seams, a structured sole unit and an exaggerated heel adding support and rigidity.

Speaking on the new silhouette, Zhang said: 'I’m obsessed with the idea of transformation, and how nothing is as it seems. The adidas Kouza embodies the oscillation between form and function while retaining elegance and style.'

The new Dingyun Zhang x adidas Kouza will be dropping as part of the designer’s upcoming capsule collection, which includes his recent Sambas. Pairs will arrive on October 18 via adidas CONFIRMED.
